An awareness programme was organised for vehicle drivers and owners at the RTA office here on Sunday as part of the programmes under the Road Safety Week which is being observed from January 11 to January 17. In-charge Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Bhadru Nayak presided over the meeting.

An awareness programme was organised for vehicle drivers and owners at the RTA office here on Sunday as part of the programmes under the Road Safety Week which is being observed from January 11 to January 17. In-charge Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Bhadru Nayak presided over the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Bhadru Nayak spoke on the precautions that drivers need to take while driving vehicles and stressed on the need for them to strictly follow traffic rules. He said only those who possessed licence, should drive vehicles on roads. He said the Telangana State government was laying special emphasis on road safety.

The RTO advised people to desist from drunken driving. Officials of the transport department explained various accidents involving different vehicles which had taken place earlier when the drivers were drunk. Vehicle Inspector Umamaheswar Rao, drivers and owners of vehicles attended the meeting.
