Hussain Sagar used as dust bin: Hyderabadis must show social responsibility

The Hussain Sagar lake is the pride of Telangana capital Hyderabad. However, for many decades now the lake has become polluted endangering even the flora and fauna present in the lake.

Successive governments have come with many extravagant plans and even launched grand initiatives. Many even allocated large funds for the cleaning of Hussain Sagar in vain.

Many are left to wonder whether Hussain Sagar can ever be clean. This is because even though pollution can be removed, the immersion of Vinayaka and Durga idols made of chemicals every year increases the pollution levels.

Though governments tried to show alternatives for immersion, many concerned parties opposed citing sentiments. The GHMC launched many public awareness campaigns and drives but with no social responsibility on part of individuals who use Hussain Sagar as dust bin cleaning becomes impossible.
