The Joint Action Committee (JAC) for Implementation of Model RTE Rules In Telangana State has launched a campaign to urge the government to adopt the Model Rules immediately and undertake immediate implementation to ensure that all private schools in Telangana start admitting 25 per cent poor students from the academic year 2015-16.

Hyderabad: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) for Implementation of Model RTE Rules In Telangana State has launched a campaign to urge the government to adopt the Model Rules immediately and undertake immediate implementation to ensure that all private schools in Telangana start admitting 25 per cent poor students from the academic year 2015-16.

The JAC has also demanded the government to direct all private schools undertaking admissions for the academic year 2015-16 keep vacant 25 per cent seats for admission of economically weaker section students and fill them with only eligible candidates. The JAC leaders Mazhar Hussain of COVA, Venkat Reddy of M V Foundation, Murali Mohan of Sadhana, Bro Varghese of Chatri, Rao Chelikani of U-Ferws and others said in spite of introduction of Central RTE Act, number of GOs and their representations, the Act was not being implemented by the State government and also by the private schools.

They pointed out that the apex court had also given a judgment directing all private unaided schools to admit 25 per cent children belonging to weaker sections and disadvantaged groups in class one every year as per the RTE Act till completion of elementary education.
