Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday announced allocation of one acre of land for construction of Kerala Bhavan at Mahendra Hills in the city. The Telangana government will also allocate Rs.1 crore for the construction of the building, he said. KCR’s made this announcement during his address to a huge gathering of Keralites on the occasion of Kerala Festival 2015, organised by the city-based Kerala Association.

KCR thanked Kerala Chief Minister Ommen Chandi for allotting five acres of land at Sabarimala for construction of a guest house for the benefit of Telangana pilgrims. It may be recalled that the Telangana government had forwarded such a request to the Kerala government recently.

KCR said there are about 4 lakh Keralites in the twin cities and said that Hyderabad was a ‘mini India’ as people from all parts of the country have made the city their home. KCR showered praise on Keralites saying wherever they emigrate, they adopt the local culture and mingle with people there. He promised allotment of house sites to Keralites and construct two-bedroom houses at governments cost. The CM asked Keralites to convey any grievances to Officer-on-Special Duty (OSD) in the Chief Minister’s Office, Priyanka Verghese. However, the opposition Congress and TDP leaders see this announcement as a game plan of the chief minister to woo the non Telangana voters in the city in view of the GHMC elections which would be held soon.
