Hyderabad: Telangana discoms on Thursday blamed KPMG consultancy, the official agency that prepared Annual Revenue Requirements (ARRs) for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, for the ‘big error’ in the ARR, which was submitted recently to the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC).

In the ARRs, it was mentioned that Telangana was entitled to avail only 52.12 per cent of power from the projects in Andhra Pradesh as against 53.89 per cent share as per the AP Reorganisation Act. The officials said the consultancy committed the ‘blunder’, which came to light four days after the submission of the new tariff hike proposals to the commission.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State locked horns over power-sharing after the former scrapped all PPAs entered into by APGenco with Telangana discoms. Telangana was demanding its share of electricity from Krishnapatnam and Hinduja thermal power projects. The issue was pending before the Centre, which constituted the Neerja Mathur Committee to break the deadlock on power-sharing issue between the two States. The TSSPDCL (Southern Power Distribution Company Limited) officials said that the discoms would seek the commission’s permission to correct the error before the public hearing on ARR begins in Telangana State.
