Hyderabad: A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Justice R Subash Reddy and Justice C Praveen Kumar on Friday closed a contempt case on an assurance by the state government that necessary steps are afoot to maintain dignity of the National Flag. The bench closed the contempt case filed by a city resident N Raj Kumar complaining that the government had failed to implement directions issued by the court in August 2012.

A division bench earlier directed the authorities to take necessary action in the matter by issuing proper advertisements through print and electronic media to ensure that the National Flag is not dishonoured in any manner. The petitioner filed the contempt case seeking action against the authorities alleging that the latter have failed to take steps to maintain the dignity of the National Flag and for not implementing the court order. The bench recorded the assurance of the government counsel and closed the contempt case.
