Hyderabad: After cracking the whip on private engineering colleges, the government has now shifted its focus on private B Ed and D Ed colleges in the State.

According to sources, the government is mulling to inspect all colleges to assess the standard of faculty, infrastructure, facilities etc. The government is of the view that fall in the standards of students is mainly due to the fall in standards of education.

Government sources said several colleges did not have permanent buildings, faculty and infrastructure but still they managed to run the show.

A senior official of State Council of Educational Research and Training said that the system had deteriorated over the years. “There is no proper system in place to take action against the errant colleges,” he said.

Another official of SCERT said Nagoji Memorial D Ed College in Mahabubnagar was already seized by bank officials over non-payment of loan. However, due to lack of coordination and inspection, admissions were given into the college this year.

“Students were taken aback as the college was closed down. We have received several complaints from students and we are planning to make alternate arrangement to shift the students to other colleges where seats are vacant,” an official said.
