Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Friday resolved to bring the Congress to power in Telangana State as a mark of respect to AICC Sonia Gandhi, who fulfilled long cherished dream of Telangana people.

The TPCC, at party head office Gandhi Bhavan, celebrated ‘thanksgiving’ to AICC President Sonia Gandhi on completing one year of the passing of Telangana Act in the Parliament on February 20 last year.

TPCC President P Lakshamiah said it was only Congress under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi had drafted the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation bill and thus paved the way for creation of separate Telangana State.

Telangana formation would not have been possible without Sonia Gandhi, he said.

However, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had failed to fulfil the aspirations of Telangana people.

KCR confined himself to making “empty” promises, the TPCC Chief alleged that the Chief Minister was changing stand on many issues, including on settlers issue, only lure people in the poll bound Greater Hyderabad.

CLP leader K Jana Reddy felt that internal squabbles in the party were one of the main reasons for the defeat of Congress in the election. Another senior leader D Srinivas called upon the party leaders from village to State level to bury the hatchet and fight unitedly against KCR’s misrule in the state.

On the occasion, party leaders and workers distributed sweets and danced to the drum beats at the party office.
