Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Sunday announced the candidature of TNGOs president G Devi Prasad for the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar Graduates Constituency of the Telangana State Legislative Council.
The decision was taken by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao after holding a meeting with senior leaders of the party at his camp office on Sunday.
Devi Prassad hails from Allipur village of Medak district. He has been an activist since college days and was associated with different organisations and participated in various movements. As president of the Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Union (TNGOs), he played an active role during the Telangana movement. Devi Prasad thanked the TRS chief for selecting him as party's candidate for the MLC post.
However, the TRS is yet to take a decision in regard to the candidate for the Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam Graduates Constituency. The TRS president held consultations with party leaders before taking a final decision. The names that had figured during the meeting apart from that of Palla Rajeshwar Reddy are B Narender Reddy from Warangal and T Ravinder Rao and M Yadava Reddy from Nalgonda. In fact, the speculations till Sunday evening were that KCR had decided on the name of Rajeshwar Reddy who is Nalgonda district in-charge. But it seems that KCR wants to take all important leaders into confidence before making the final announcement so that the official candidate will not have to face much of problem in the elections. It is learnt that Narender Reddy had threatened to quit the TRS if Rajeshwar Rao was given the ticket. Hence, KCR wanted to have further consultations with ministers as well as Narender Reddy before making a final announcement.
