Directs officials to rework on required funds

Hyderabad: With the Union government’s annual budget not meeting the expectations of the Telangana government, Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao has reviewed budgetary priorities of his department on Monday.

He directed the officials to rework on funds required for various schemes now so that Central budget figures would be clear. Although the State government would allocate required funds for drinking water grid and development of Panchayat Raj roads, Centre’s budget would have an impact on other programmes being implemented by Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments.

Rama Rao emphasised on sitting again with the Finance Department to ensure that different programmes and schemes envisaged by them were allocated required funds.

Since the Centre has given top priority to Digital India and Swach Bharat, he asked the officials to send related proposals to develop e-panchayats as well as construction of toilets and improving sanitation in various districts.

Meanwhile, at a review meeting held at the Secretariat, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma directed officials of various government departments to be fully prepared to furnish details of questions posed by members particularly relating to budget in the upcoming legislature sessions.

He also enquired about the status of written replies sent to members who posed questions in previous sessions and asked them to complete them at the earliest if any of them was pending.
