Hyderabad: As the State government gears up for its pet project 'Clean-up Hussain Sagar Lake', the GHMC is now analysing and addressing the problems ahead of the clean-up task. A high-level meeting, chaired by GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, discussed the works which need to be initiated for controlling the release of untreated industrial waste into the Kukatpally Nala.

Proposals are to be made jointly with Hyderabad Metro Water Works and Jeedimetla Effluent Treatment Plant Limited for installing common effluent treatment plant. Also, Global Positioning System (GPS) has been installed in the vehicles that transport the effluents and it alerts if the waste is being dumped in the Nala,” said Anil Kumar, Secretary, Pollution Control Board (PCB). Further, he added that it has been decided to install an instrument that measures the pollution levels in the Kukatpally Nala. “A proposal for shifting of pharmacy companies from Kukatpally to other areas in the next two years is also being considered,” he said.
