On Wednesday, eight persons were arrested by Cyberabad police while operating a cricket betting racket. Police seized and Rs.14.42 lakh, two cars and 16 phones.


E. Ramachandra Reddy, Additional DCP (Special Operations Team) Cyberabad said that the gang hailed from Moula Ali; Shaik Mohammed Ghouse and his two sons Shaik Shoukath Ali and Shaik Mohammed Ali operated the racket from their house since the beginning of 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.


Mohammed Ghouse, the main organizer along with assistants Imran, Dharma Raju, Praveen and Abdul accepted the bets from clients hailing from Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana.


Investigations revealed that the betting involved many businessmen, small traders and students. The Police are making efforts to arrest Ghouse and six others who have absconded.
