Missing agri varisty Prof returns home

Hyderabad: Three days after she disappeared leaving a suicide note with the librarian, Prof Spandana Bhatt of Prof Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University returned home safely, police said on Friday.

The 27-year-old assistant professor’s sudden disappearance kept the Mailardevpally police on their toes.

The police formed special teams on Thursday and went to Zaheerabad based on last call track record. However, they were baffled to find her cell phone switched off and later learnt that she had gone to Pune to escape her husband’s torture.

It may be recalled that she left a suicide note with the librarian of the varsity stating that she was going home to end her life.

“Spandana, who was married to one Yadu Bhushan a year ago, had problems with him. He did not have a job and was splurging the dowry money. Frustrated by her failure to make him mend his ways, she decided to end her life,” the cops said.

However, after her return the parents of the professor withdrew the complaint lodged with the police.
