Telangana Police under scrutiny

Suspicions and allegations are being raised against the Telangana Police after images have surfaced of a man’s body splattered with blood is in handcuffs slumped over in his seat in an alleged encounter where five suspected terrorists were shot dead.

A 17 member security team was escorting the five men from Warangal jail to a Hyderabad court 150 km away when one of the men, Vikaruddin Ahmed tried to snatch a weapon when asked to be released from his cuffs to use the toilet.

The team allegedly opened fire when the other suspects also tried to escape.

Vikaruddin Ahmed’s father Mohammad Ahmed believes that it was a fake encounter and demanded a CBI enquiry.

Civil rights activists questioned over the reason behind shooting the five men when 17 security personnel could have brought five handcuffed men under control inside a closed vehicle.

The Tuesday’s encounter has been order for an inquiry by an executive magistrate and judicial inquiry following a Supreme Court directive in 2014.
