Says it will act as a watchdog for Mission Kakatiya programme
Hyderabad: Stating that it would act as a watchdog for Mission Kakatiya programme, Telangana wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded the State government to stop sanctioning any layout or building permission until Full Tank Level (FTL) pillars were erected in the ground in Masab Lake located at Turkayamjal, Hayatnagar (M), Ranga Reddy district.
A BJP delegation, led by floor leader and Ramnagar MLA Dr K Laxman along with BJP State-vice president Dr S Malla Reddy, MPTCs GR Karunakar, Narasimha Reddy, Bhasker, Arjun Reddy and Satyanarayana and social workers, on Friday visited Masab Lake wherein they witnessed layout activity going on in FTL area of the lake.
Speaking on this occasion, Laxman said Masab Lake has got a great history as it was constructed during Nizam’s Rule. The lake was spread over 320 acres with an ayacut of 720 acres, and unfortunately most of the lake land has been encroached and inflows have been stopped. He said many complaints have made to the Irrigation and Revenue authorities to protect the lake, but in vain. Finally Zilla Cheruvula Parirakshana Samithi, Ranga Reddy district led by GR Karunakar has made a complaint with Lokayukta.
In response to the complaint, Lokayukta had directed all the concerned departments to restore the above lake within six months with the available amount of Rs 65 lakh, but nothing has been done till today. Even under Mission Kakatiya, Rs 83.20 lakh have been sanctioned, but no progress has been made and the work has not commenced till today, he lamented.
He further added that the irrigation department has issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the persons involved in developing layout, and even the Revenue authorities have also given clearance in disregard to the Lokayukta authorities. He demanded the government to repair the sluice masonry immediately, start work of lake under Mission Kakatiya, stop the drain flows into the lake and clear all feeder channels for free flow of rainwater into the lake.
He also revealed that BJP will organise such visits in future too in certain villages to see that the ‘Mission Kakatiya’ be made useful to the village people for drinking water and irrigation, where Telangana State does not have much irrigation projects and farmers are mostly dependent on bore wells and dug wells.
