Ambedkar backed small states: MP

Karimnagar: The 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar was celebrated on a grand scale across the district on Tuesday. People from different walks of life garlanded the statues of Ambedkar and distributed sweets and cut cakes. Participating in a programme organised by the district administration at Court Chowk here, local MP B Vinod Kumar said that formation of separate Telangana state was materialised only through the Indian Constitution written by Ambedkar.

Applauding the services of the late leader, the MP said that Ambedkar had forecast that small states were viable for the governance. Stating that the TRS government was committed to the development of the downtrodden sections, he said it would strive hard for human resource development in the newly formed Telangana state.

Government chief whip Koppula Eashwar said that Ambedkar had strived hard for the upliftment of dalits and other backward sections. People would not forget the services of Ambedkar as long as the Indian Constitution lasts in the country. Karimnagar Municipal Corporation mayor Ravinder Singh, Zilla Parishad chairperson, Tula Uma and others took part in the celebrations.
