MMTS mows down buffaloes near Hi-Tec city

An MMTS train in Hyderabad city created a stir when it mowed down 12 buffaloes near Hafeezpet when they were caught unawares by the speeding train in the afternoon.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred bnear the railway track when a herd of about 50 were grazing when the train passing through Gopal Rao Nagar near a local dargah hit them. “As the speeding train hit them, many bovines were hurled into the bushes and rocks along side the tracks and many suffered multiple injuries," they said.

Nampally railway police are on the look out for the owner of the buffaloes and are likely to book him for allowing animals on the track. The MMTS service was hit for about an hour after the incident and the railway police with help of locals and MMTS staff moved the carcasses off the track and cleaned up the mess after the police made a panchanama and filed an FIR.
