Karimnagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy found fault with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for conducting meetings with the district collectors while the farmers are in distress after losing their crops due to untimely rains in the State and are worried about their bleak future.

He said the collectors should be busy preparing crop damage reports and present a comprehensive report to the government to announce suitable compensation, but they were forced to attend conference organised by the Chief Minister and termed the timing of meeting as ‘tuglak palana’ (wrong ruling). The BJP leader urged the State government to send crop damage reports to the Central government at the earliest.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Janardhan Reddy slammed the functioning of the K Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) government for introducing schemes that would benefit its party workers and contractors and not for the welfare of Telangana people.

Talking about the State government’s prestigious programme Mission Kakatiya, he alleged that there were a lot of confusions in estimations. While the government had identified 46,000 tanks for renovation, the BJP leader termed the figure as incorrect and said there were only 4,745 tanks to be renovated. He said that most of the TRS government schemes were meant to only fill the pockets of TRS activists and not for the welfare of the people of Telangana.

He also questioned the selection of beneficiaries for subsidy of tractors scheme, wherein majority of the tractors were sanctioned to pink party workers, and alleged that the TRS leaders had already purchased proclainers to engage them in tanks works. Instead of spending huge funds on Mission Kakatiya, the government should complete the pending irrigation projects initiated under Jalayagnam programme, he opined.
