Nalgonda: Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy on Thursday said even through the TRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao adopted a peaceful path for Telangana agitation, the false propaganda spread by Andhra media and announcement of the Centre to stop the process of formation of Telangana State have led to the sacrifices of lives by Telangana youth and students for the cause.

The Minister on Thursday handed over Rs 10 lakh cheque to each family of Telangana martyrs from the district at a programme organised in the District Collectorate meeting hall. The parents of Telangana martyr, Srikantha Chary, broke down while receiving the cheque from the Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said after studying various agitations, which have taken place across the world, KCR has formulated a plan for Telangana agitation to wage a peaceful fight for separate State. KCR’s aim was to achieve Telangana without shedding a single drop of blood. However, the attitude of the then Central and State governments towards Telangana statehood has resulted in suicides of youth and students, he regretted.

“With his sacrifice, Srikantha Chary, who belongs to Nalgonda district, had once again proved that the district would be on the forefront in making sacrifices during agitations,” he said, adding that a government job and a house to the martyr’s family members would be extended. The Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Nethi Vidhya Sagar, Parliamentary Secretary Gadari Kishore, Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, MLC Pula Ravinder, District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy and Superintendent of Police Vikramjit Duggal also attended the programme.
