Bandaru Dattatreya Hyderabad: The Centre is modernising employment exchanges through the National Career Service, Union Minister of State for Labour, Bandaru Dattatreya said here on Friday. As per the scheme, those registered with the exchanges would get SMS alerts on jobs available and the job-seekers do not have to make rounds to the exchanges said the Minister.


"If a worker is registered with employment exchange, your cell phone number would be there. What we do is, after registration, you will get information on where jobs available like electrician, welder and fitter. You are asked to attend the interviews.


We are modernising employment exchanges through the National Career Service," he said while addressing a May Day event. The modernisation of employment exchanges is going to cost the government Rs 400 crore. Noting that the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking a number of initiatives for the benefit of workmen, he said one crore jobs would be created in the next two years.

The Centre is implementing 'Make in India', 'Digital India' and 'Skill India' initiatives that would herald great changes, he said. Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister announced accident insurance cover for 16,000 home guards and also 12,000 mediapersons in the state.
