Hyderabad: Leaders of Opposition in the Assembly and Council K Jana Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir respectively condemned the “unethical and immoral” politics being practiced by both Telugu Desam Party and Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

Expressing anguish over the present day politics, senior Congress leaders said, "I'm unable to decide whether to launch an agitation against degradation of politics or I should I take retirement” says Jana Reddy, while addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday.

He said that politics of horse-trading, defections and other unethical means was a blot on democracy. "I’m in serious consultations with my party leaders, followers and intellectuals, on what should be my next course of action- Either I have to cope with politics practiced by TDP and TRS which lack in moral principles, so it doesn’t suit my conscience since I never stooped so low” he lamented. This sparked off speculations that Jana Reddy was contemplating to retire from active politics.

Congres leader Shabbir said, “While we strongly condemn what Revanth Reddy did, but we equally condemn Chief Minister KCR who has been encouraging defections from other parties to satisfy his lust for power,” He ridiculed TRS claims that MLAs of other parties joined ruling party to ensure development of Telangana.

“Every defection had a hidden story. It is not so simple that the legislators of Congress, TDP, YSRCP or BSP met the Chief Minister and asked him to induct them into the party. While some went for money or favours, others went for ministerial berth or other posts,” he added.
