Hyderabad: After successfully containing power cuts in the summer in all sectors, the Telangana government is gearing up to meet the power demand in the Khariff season which begins in August in the State.

On the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, TSSPDCL (Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited) Chairman and Managing Director G Raghuma Reddy on Monday held a review meeting on the power supply and demand for the next agricultural season with the officials.

A maximum demand of 8,350 MW is estimated in the Khariff season. Reddy said the DISCOMs had taken all measures to meet the ensuing demand for smooth conclusion of khariff season on power supply front. He also added that the utilities distributed 53.12 MU power on May 26 in the Greater Hyderabad, which is the record in Hyderabad history.

He also said as a part of ‘Swachh Hyderabad’ mission, the TSSPDCL proposed to construct 159 (33/11 KV) sub-stations with an estimated expenditure of Rs 294 crore this year to strengthen the distribution system.
