Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, promised to offer Rs 5 lakh Accident Insurance to toddy tappers and Gowda community in Telangana State. Speaking to mediapersons, here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the State government would work out a plan-of-action for their welfare. Stating that toddy shops would be restored in the State soon, he asked the community members to take membership through societies.

Along with Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Ministers T Harish Rao, Padma Rao Goud, MP B Narsaiah Goud and MLA Srinivas Goud, some Gowda community leaders, on Thursday, met Chief Minister at the camp office.

Speaking on the occasion, KCR, while stating that he would soon call a meeting of Gowdas, he asked the officials to submit a report on community welfare and steps needed to be taken for their development. He said that 48 lakh palm saplings are ready for plantation on lake bunds. As part of Haritha Haram project, about two lakh such saplings will be planted to get back that sheen in the villages, he added.
