It was a family reunion for a youngster who had run away from his home in Amberpet when he was a nine year old boy when NGOs and the police helped him reunite his family. Now aged 21, Anjaneyulu had run away from his house after his parents scolded him in 2004 and took a train to Chennai.

Anjaneyulu worked in a Chennai hotel and later was involved in crime as a minor due to which he was sent to a juvenile home but was released four years later, who then came into contact with S. Sattaiah Babu, director of Scope India in Chennai , said South Zone DCP V. Satyanarayana. The DCP informed that the boy was handed over to Help Age India in Hyderabad who approached the Charminar police to trace his family.

Charminar inspector A. Yadagiri and his team located Anjaneyulu’s parents at Amberpet who work as ragpickers. The clincher was a tattoo that the Anjaneyulu and his mother Anjamma shared on their right arms which helped the police reunite them.
