Hyderabad: Striking an emotional chord in the backward Mahabubnagar district that was neglected for decades in the irrigation sector by successive governments, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday said that his government would quench the thirst of people who were put to untold misery for each drop and would cleanse the feet of Palamur with Krishna waters.

Unveiling a pylon for the much-awaited Palamur Lift Irrigation Project and laying the foundation stone for it at Bhootpur on Thursday, the Chief Minister declared that no force on the earth can stop his government from completing the projects. Addressing the people of Palamur, the Chief Minister lashed out at the AP government for raising baseless objections over the irrigation projects that were being taken up by the government.

He said it was the AP government which had violated all the sections of AP State Reorganisation Act and denied power to the State. Former chief ministers including N Kiran Kumar Reddy argued that if the State was bifurcated it would plunge into darkness and there would be no water. But he has proved them wrong.

The AP government which has been causing hurdles in the works of TS government says that it would complain to the Prime Minister and would oppose these projects. He said, they should know that “Prime Minister Modi is also Prime Minister for Telangana and I am sure that he will not listen to what these ‘dogs’ say.” KCR said it had become a habit for the AP government to rush to the Centre for everything.

He said the AP government should first explain if they had obtained clearances for Somasila, Veligodu, Pattiseema, Handri Neeva and Pothyreddypadu before starting construction. He said his government was determined to construct Palamur and Nakkalagandi project at any cost.

Taking a dig at successive governments for showing partisan attitude towards the district, which was famous for migration, KCR announced that his government was committed to spend Rs 35,200 crore for the completion of the project. On completion, the Palamur project will irrigate seven lakh acres in Mahbubnagar district and another three lakh acres in Ranga Reddy and provide drinking water.
