Hyderabad: The entire 4.5 lakh government workforce in Telangana will embark on massive protests, both in Hyderabad and New Delhi, if Central government invoked Section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act in Hyderabad. Besides holding a massive public meeting in Nizam College grounds to devise action plan, Telangana employees will head to New Delhi to lay siege to the national capital. This decision was taken at the round table organised by Telangana Gazetted Officers in Gazetted Bhavan on Wednesday. Representatives of various government unions took part in the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, political analyst Prof Haragopal felt invoking Section 8 would be a bad decision for democracy. People of Seemandhra region are living happily in Hyderabad for the last one year. While they are not making any such demand, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been going overboard only to save his skin in the cash-for-vote probe, he felt.

Mahabubnagar MLA and TGO chairman Srinivas Goud warned the Centre saying that “Telangana employees would not remain silent spectators if such a foolish step was taken. Strong protests would be held in ten districts until Centre withdrew it,” he said.

TNGO honorary president G Deviprasad felt that employees should wait for two more days until clarity emerged on Centre’s intentions. It looks like Centre was made to rethink on its proposal due to strong protests from Telangana government and different sections of society in the last 24 hours.
