Hyderabad: Employees of ‘108’ emergency services may go on strike because the 6-member committee which was instituted by the government to look into their demands has failed to come up with a report even though it has been a month since it was constituted.

The employees of the ‘108’ service told The Hans India that they are ready to go on strike. According to Md Shabbeer Ahmed, president, Telangana Medical Health Employees Union, affiliated to TRS Karmika Vibhagam, the ‘108’ emergency services employees went on an indefinite strike from the midnight of May 13 after their talks with the management (EMRI) failed.

But they called off the strike on the assurance from the Minister for Health Dr C Lakshma Reddy that their salaries will be hiked by Rs 1,000 per month with immediate effect and also assured to take back all the 70-odd sacked employees.

A six-member committee was constituted by Dr C Lakshma Reddy to look into the other demands of employees, especially running the agency by the government itself. The committee has to examine the possibilities of running the service by the government and make necessary recommendations but till date, it has failed to come up its report, employees alleged.
