Sangareddy: A customer who went to buy Cerelac for his kid was in for a shock in the form of small ‘store grain pests’ present in the baby food. To make matters worse, the store from where he bought the item refused to refund his money. This happened in Sangareddy at a Medplus store on Friday, when Rajesh, a resident of Virabhadra Nagar, bought five boxes of Cerelac.

As he went home and opened the box, he found the pests inside and checked if other boxes contained them too. He opened three boxes out of the five and found all three infested with the worms. He returned to the store to get his money back, but the store-keeper refused to oblige.

This prompted Rajesh to seek help from media to report the incident. Spurred by the news reports, the Food Inspector swung into action and seized the Cerelac boxes from the Medplus store on Saturday. The boxes were sent to Hyderabad for testing.
