Hyderabad: The Telangana State BJP Thursday demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao immediately convene an all-party meeting to discuss the arrangements being made to pilgrims during Godavari Pushkarams. Speaking to the media, Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy said there was an urgent need to have coordination between different government departments like Irrigation, Road & Buildings, Panchayat Raj, Tourism, Endowments and Health to ensure proper facilities to pilgrims during the 12-day Pushkarams..

Though the State government announced it would construct 106 ghats on the banks of the river Godavari, a lot of works are yet to be completed, he said. The government has identified 800 works for providing facilities to devotees, he said and wanted to know how many works the government has completed.

Responding to a query, Kishan Reddy said the party wanted to give suggestions as there was no time to complete the construction works of Godavari Pushkarams. Referring to reports of senior Congress leader D Srinivas joining the TRS, Kishan Reddy said this happening clearly shows that party was losing its cadre.

Earlier, addressing the media, BJP floor leader Dr K Laxman said the party has sent five teams to various districts to inspect works relating to Pushkarams. The teams deputed by the party have visited Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad and Khammam and found the works were going on at a snail’s pace. Uppal MLA NVSS Prabhakar Rao and Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh and others were present.
