After the cash-for-vote news broke out, many felt that the Telugu Desam Party had lost its fortunes in Telangana state. But the MPTC by-elections results say a different story. TDP supported candidates won the two MPTCs in the bypoll elections conducted in Khammam and Mahbubnagar districts.
TDP candidate Matku won with 166 votes for the Relakayapalli bypoll of Karepall in Khammam. In Mahbubnagar district, TDP candidate Lakshmi Devi won the Bunimadu MPTC post defeating TRS candidate with a slender majority of 693 votes. The TDP has bagged both the Bhadrachalam MPP and vice-president posts in the indirect elections held at Bhadrachalam recently.
