When strained ties hit Lord Balaji

According to sources, the Telangana government wants to go slow as far as presenting offerings to Lord Venkateshwara.

Hyderabad: The cash-for-vote scandal and the allegations of phone tapping resulting in strained relations between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh seems to have cast a shadow on Lord Venkateshwara as well. According to sources, the Telangana government wants to go slow as far as presenting offerings to Lord Venkateshwara.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had taken a vow to offer jewellery worth Rs 5 crore to Lord Balaji if separate state was carved. KCR wished to present Mula Varla Kamalamu Namuna Bangaru Saligrama Haram (mega necklace) and five rows of gold chain costing Rs 5 crore to the Lord.
KCR wanted to personally visit Tirumala to give the offerings. Although there will not be any problem for the visit of any state head to Tirumala, officials here want to plan the visit after normalcy is restored, sources said. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board came forward to prepare the jewellery for the Lord.
They positively responded to a request from the Telangana government in this regard. As soon as the formalities are finalised, TTD authorities will start making the ornaments. Endowments officials indicate that the exercise may take another two months to complete. It may be recalled here that the Telangana government ordered the Endowments Department to meet the expenses from the Common Good Fund (CGF).
The Common Good Fund (CGF), set up under Section 70(1) (a) of the Endowment Act, will generate the fund from the contributions made by the Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions, whose annual income exceeds Rs 50,000 crore.
It may be recalled that KCR also vowed to present a 2-kg golden crown to the presiding deity of Bhadrakali temple in Warangal (Rs 57 lakh), 20 to 25 gram Bangaru Meesalu (gold moustache) to Kuravi Veerabhadra Swamy temple (estimated to cost Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000), a Mukku Pudaka (golden nose stud) to Kanaka Durga Ammavaru at Vijayawada weighing about 10-15 grams, a Mukku Pudaka weighing 10-15 grams to Padmavathi Ammavaru, Tiruchannuru in Tirupati at a cost of Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000.
