The Telangana State government has directed all District Collectors to provide all help farmers during kharif season in the backdrop of deficient rainfall. Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has directed all District Collectors to provide all help farmers during kharif season in the backdrop of deficient rainfall. Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretary of Agriculture C Parthasarathi held a review meeting with 10 District Collectors and higher officials of the Agriculture Department on Wednesday.

Rajiv Sharma told Collectors to monitor village-wise situation and condition of crops regularly and guide farmers. The district administration should also prepare contingency plans in the event of extended dry spell in any particular region of the State. Further, he emphasised on creating awareness among the farmers on crop insurance scheme, besides reviewing the status of crop loans with the district bankers.

Meanwhile, Parthasarathi directed the district officials, especially those from the Agriculture Department to take all steps to provide help to farmers. Reviewing the status of supply of agricultural i­nputs and fertilisers in various districts, he said sufficient stocks of seeds and fertilisers were kept available. He also directed Agriculture authorities and scientists to gather accurate information about rainfall and crop conditions for the benefit of farmers.
