Maha Harati to River Godavari

Basar (Adilabad district): Hampi priest Sri Vidyaranya Bharati Swamy performed Maha Harati to the River Godavari on Wednesday evening at Basar Ghats. On the occasion, Swami led a Shobha Yatra from Goddess Saraswathi temple to Basar Ghats.

According to Hindu Aagama Sastra, the Maha Harati should be performed to the rivers on holy days. On the occasion of the second day of Godavari Pushkaralu, Vidyaranaya Bharati Swamy and Nandipet Kedareshwra Ashrama priest Mangi Ramulu Maharaj, along with large number of devotees took part in poojas to the Godavari and Maha Harati at the temple.
