Huge quantity of PDS rice seized
Huge quantity of PDS rice seized. Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) officials seized around 1,890 quintals of rice meant for beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) during a special check at two different places in Warangal district on separate occasions.

Acting on a tip-off that the PDS rice was being smuggled, the sleuths mounted a vigil on the premises of Parameshwari Binny Rice Mill in Parvathagiri mandal in Warangal district on Tuesday and arrested its owner Gadadasu Chandrashekar under Section 6(A) of the Essentials Commodities Act 1955 and other relevant sections of the IPC.
“We seized 270 quintals of PDS rice in 540 bags worth Rs 4.59 lakhs from the premises,” DG (V&E) TP Das said. In another case of major seizure on Wednesday, 1,620 quintals of PDS rice in 3,240 bags worth Rs 39.6 lakhs were seized at decentralized procurement godowns (civil supplies) at Nekkonda in Warangal district.
The civil supplies officials were detained. “The matter is taken up with the Warangal district collector for immediate action against the officials and to file a criminal case against three rice mill owners involved in the case,” the DG added.
