Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Thursday condemned the police high-handedness of the police on Mangalapalli villagers in Ibrahimpatnam mandal, Ranga Reddy district. The CPI alleged that the Revenue officials even bypassed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's directions and GO 58 pertaining to the regularisation of government lands which were occupied by the slum dwellers.

On July 28, the revenue officials along with the police and local goons had removed the huts in Komaram Bheem Nagar in Mangalapalli village and they had even cane charged the villagers including old men, women and children, the CPI leaders alleged. “The police arrested the youth and have been beating them black and blue for the past three days. Some even abused women and burnt furniture in the huts.

We strongly condemn such manhandling and partisan attitude of the police,” the CPI leaders said. In a letter to Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Shrama, State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and CPI floor leader R Ravinder Kumar requested to withdraw cases lodged against the villagers on humanitarian grounds.
