Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday stressed the need to increase the tax revenue. He directed Minister for Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivas Yadav and the officials to adopt scientific methods to plug loopholes in tax collection. During a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat here, the Chief Minister asked the Minister and the officials to take steps to increase tax collection and strengthen the wing.

He said the official machinery should encourage the tax payers to come forward voluntarily to pay the tax. KCR felt that the best methods should be adopted by the Department to help the government secure more revenue. He instructed the officials to strengthen the 14 checkposts on Telangana state borders with adjoining four other states.

He suggested that the officials examine the possibility of setting up of separate checkposts of the Commercial Taxes Department along the TS borders with four states. The government had already given its approval to fill vacancies and recruit more persons if necessary, KCR stated. The police would provide protection to the Commercial Taxes Department officials, whenever necessary, he said.
