Hyderabad: The Telangana Legislature Committee on Wakf Properties pulled up the officials of State Wakf Board for not furnishing the documents related to Dargah Hakim Shah Baba properties during the committee's meeting held on Thursday. Stating that House Committee was equivalent to mini-Assembly, the members asked the officials to furnish complete information, which is being sought, related to important Wakf properties in the State.

The officials reportedly told the committee that files pertaining to Dargah were missing. However, the committee directed the board to furnish the details during its next meeting to be held on August 20. It also summoned GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar in connection with the dues that the corporation owes to the Wakf Board for the land acquired at various places.

The GHMC reportedly owes nearly Rs. 16 crore towards land acquired at Begumpet. The meeting, presided by Committee chairman Bajireddy Govardhan, was also attended by legislators including Akbaruddin Owaisi, Farooq Hussain, Rajeshwar Reddy, DK Aruna, Md Saleem and Altaf Hyder Razvi. Minorities Welfare Department Special Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel, MWD Director MJ Akbar and Wakf Board CEO Md Asadullah Shareef were also present.

The shop keepers complained of improper maintenance of buildings. They also told the committee members they were in receipt of notices from Wakf Board which proposes to increase the rent by almost 10 times.

Presently, most of the shop keepers are paying rents of about Rs. 300-500 per month. Akbaruddin Owaisi has called Charminar MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri and asked him to convene a meeting with all tenants to resolve the issue.
