11 Telangana cities covered in Swachh Bharat survey

Swachh Bharat survey rankings were announced on Saturday by the Centre. With Adilabad ranking at 349, Hindupur and AP ranked at 457 in the survey that covered 30 cities in AP and 11 in Telangana.

A set of parameters were considered for the survey in the cities for the total sanitation practices that included drinking water quality, solid waste management, surface water quality of water bodies, extent of open defecation, waste water treatment, mortality due to water borne diseases and seepage management.
Under the National Sanitation Policy of 2008, the survey was commissioned by the Union ministry of urban development and conducted during 2014-15.
