AISEC demands common schools

Hyderabad: The All India Save Education Committee (AISEC) demanded the Telangana government to establish ‘common school system’ in a one kilometre radius in every area. Speaking to newspersons at Press Club, Somajiguda, here, on Tuesday, Prof. PL Vishweshwar Rao said irrespective of the stature all children should study in a same school. “Children of MPs, MLAs and common people should be sent to be common school. This is being system followed in the US and Europe and its free,” he added.
Vishweshwar demanded the government to immediately implement the Right to Education Act and fill up the vacant teacher positions at the primary and high school level. Rao lamented that though the academic year had begun, several schools have not received the textbooks. “We demand the government schools should be strengthened,” he added.
He found fault with the new education policy being formulated by the Central government. “Earlier education policies failed to solve the basic problems that were plaguing our education system but also pushed entire system from bad to worse. Now the present Central government has initiated another such exercise new education policy-2015.
In the same vein, state governments too, have begun adopting pompously, various education schemes,” he added.Rao said that no consultations were made with the AISEC before formulating the policy. Vishweshwar alleged that there was a big scam in the transfers of teachers and rationalisation. He said that norms were not allowed for transferring the teachers.
