Ministers village-bound for the last three days for launching the new scheme

Hyderabad: The newly launched Grama Jyothi scheme is giving a fresh lease of life to the otherwise quiet and isolated villages in the State. But with the ministers and key bureaucrats making a beeline to rural areas, the State secretariat, the administrative headquarters of the government is wearing a deserted look. Even the number of visitors coming to Secretariat has dropped drastically.


Most of the ministers have been busy in holding padayatras (walkathons), Grama Sabhas and interaction with the villagers. Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao toured three different districts of Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Karimnagar as part of the Grama Jyothi scheme.


On the inaugural day, he visited Aziznagar village on the outskirts of the State capital, followed by Rajapur village (Mahbubnagar district) on Tuesday. He then visited Ramanapalli village in his Sircilla constituency the following day. He is scheduled to visit a village in Jukkal constituency in Nizamabad district on Thursday.


Finance Minister Eatala Rajender is busy covering length and breadth of his native Karimnagar district. As part of the village development initiative, he visited Kandhugula and Gundedu villages on Monday and Yellabotharam and Chelpur villages on Tuesday.On Wednesday, Eatala toured Veenavanka and Sirisedu villages (of Jammikunta mandal) which he adopted. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao toured Ibrahimpur, Matindla and Shivampet villages as part of the Grama Jyothi scheme.


Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy visited Someshwar, Rudrur, Kotagiri, Ramganganagar, Sompur, Takli, Pocharam and Kurthi villages in the last three days. Besides making efforts to list out problems and priority list for development, he is ensuring formation of seven committees in each village as prescribed in Grama Jyothi guidelines.


Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna toured Yapalguda, Mavala, Battisavargaon villages on Monday, Bedhoda and Jainath villages on Tuesday and Nirala, Savapur, Taroda, Guda and Balapur on Wednesday. Endowments and Housing Minister Indrakaran Reddy covered Yellapalli, Gundampalli, Mallapur and Ponkal villages in the meantime.


Transport Minister Mahender Reddy has made a whirlwind visit of various villages in his native Ranga Reddy district in the last three days that included Aziznagar, Devunierravalli, Mittakuduru, Govindapur, Bhogaram, NFC nagar, Dundigal, Antharam, Madanapur and Allipur villages.


Roads and Building Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao has been concentrating on his native Khammam district for the last three days. He toured Maddulapally, Papatpalli, Thanikella were some of the villages he covered. Likewise, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy is extensively touring Nalgonda district while ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and C Laxma Reddy have been focusing on solving woes of villagers in their native Mahbubnagar district for the last three days.
