A delegation from IC2 institute, University of Texas, Austin, USA, headed by Sidney Burback, Director, visited the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India at the University of Hyderabad (UoH).

Hyderabad: A delegation from IC2 institute, University of Texas, Austin, USA, headed by Sidney Burback, Director, visited the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India at the University of Hyderabad (UoH).


The team further comprising of Vijay Topa, Advisor, Global Commercialisation Group, IC2 Institute was accompanied by Vishal Khanna, FICCI, New Delhi, Gabriel Hons-Olver, Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate, Hyderabad and Senthil Kumar also of US Consulate interacted with the coordinator of the TBI Prof V Venkataramana and also the students of School of Management Studies of the university and appreciated the functioning of incubator.


The team from IC2 also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the areas of biotechnology and clean energy, and highlighted the attempts from both the governments, USA and India. After interacting with the students, the delegation visited TBI office and enquired about the programmes being undertaken by it. They also suggested suitable methodologies to foster an entrepreneurial culture at the university and also the concept of “Lab to Market” thorough commercialisation of technologies.


The team interacted with Prof G Rajaram, coordinator Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurship (TIDE), supported by Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of India and also offered help to address the issues of technology development and transfer. As a mark of the visit, the visiting delegation planted saplings on the premises of TBI facility in the presence of Prof R P Sharma and other officials.
