Hyderabad: Continuing its tirade against Chief Minister and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government, the Opposition Congress alleged that Chandrashekar Rao, who had proclaimed that he would transform Hyderabad into a health hub, changed the city to an ‘Anarogya Hub’.

Speaking to the media here on Monday along with former minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Senior Congress leader and former minister D K Aruna expressed concern over the cheap liquor policy of the government and said the youth would become alcohol addicts with the availability of cheap liquor, which was highly harmful to health.

She alleged that the Chief Minister, who had failed to curb illicitly distilled liquor, was bringing cheap liquor to the State and endangering the lives of the poor people and youth in villages. She also asked whether the government would drink blood of the poor people for the sake of earning Rs 5,000 crore revenue.

She also charged the government with trying to supply cheap liquor to every village instead of providing potable drinking water taps. She also argued that with the introduction of cheap liquor, the atrocities against women would increase further creating a law and order problem.

She also warned the Chief Minister that women would revolt against the government for ruining their lives by making available cheap liquor. Speaking on the occasion, Sunitha Laxma Reddy accused the TRS government of adopting “anti-women” policies in the State.

She warned the TRS government that the Congress party would not be a silent spectator if Chandrashekar Rao failed to withdraw his cheap liquor policy immediately. She also made it clear that she would launch a fight against the liquor policy from the Chief Minister’s Gajwel Assembly constituency.
