Hyderabad: With an eye on the Warangal bye- election which would take place soon, the Telangana government on Saturday announced that it would launch the scheme to provide cooking gas connection to every household under ‘ LPG gas connection to all ‘ scheme that was taken up as a pilot project in Karimnagar district recently.
Addressing the press here, Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender said in Karimnagar district the department had conducted house-to-house survey and identified the beneficiaries. The BPL families would be covered under the existing Deepam scheme. Non BPL families will be given gas connection under the new scheme.
He said the scheme would be launched in all districts in next four months. This will make Telangana a ‘smoke free household state.’ Rajender warned of stern action against those who commit irregularities in the implementation of the scheme.
Reiterating that fool-proof arrangements have been made in the supply of Re-1-Kg rice to the BPL families through fair price shops, he said cases have already been booked against the dealers who misused the rice scheme and their licences have been cancelled.
The Minister said the linkage with Aadhaar to the rice scheme helped the government to plug loopholes in the scheme. The supply of highly subsidised rice to the beneficiaries through Rythu Bazars was not under consideration, he added.
