Cops counsel 52 eve teasers, parents. The city police on Monday held a counseling session for 52 minors who were caught by the SHE teams for eve teasing and harassing women at public places. Their parents were also called for the counseling.
Hyderabad: The city police on Monday held a counseling session for 52 minors who were caught by the SHE teams for eve teasing and harassing women at public places. Their parents were also called for the counseling.
A team of six psychologists and 15 members of NGO Youngistan Foundation have counseled the minors and their parents under the supervision of city SHE teams head and additional commissioner (Crimes and SIT) Swati Lakra.
The minors were divided into groups consisting of five members in each group and counseled to rectify their deviant behavior. Their parents were separately counseled and asked to monitor their children's day-to-day activities and control their erratic behaviour.
Addressing the minors and their parents, Lakra said “There is a very small difference between pleasure and happiness, which has to be identified with commonsense. It is unfortunate that minors are trying to find pleasure by teasing and harassing women at public places.
The parents of the minors are also equally responsible for the heinous acts done by their child. If minors are repeatedly caught for eve teasing, they will be prosecuted by the courts and the future of the child will be in trouble for indulging in the acts of obtaining pleasure.”
The NGO team has sung motivational songs to inspire and bring attitudinal change among the minors. The minors were also shown short films on ill-effects of eve teasing, and were told to concentrate on their career. They were given pamphlets containing information and laws on various crimes against women and penal provisions.
