Warangal: The State government was acting with negligent attitude towards the rightful demands of Asha workers, alleged All India Democratic Women’ Association (AIDWA) district secretary N Ratnamala.

She said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who made tall promises on women’s welfare and on providing minimum wages to all, has miserably failed to keep the promise. The government was exploiting the Asha workers by offering pittance for their services, she added.

Extending solidarity to the agitation by the workers going on for the past 11 days, Ratnamala has on Saturday took part in a protest wherein the protestors swept the road from Ekasila Park to Adalath Centre in Hanamkonda.

Addressing the gathering, she warned that if the State government fails to address the demands of Asha workers immediately, it would have to face the wrath of the women in the coming Warangal by-elections.

Besides the minimum wage, the protesting workers have demanded employing eligible Asha workers as Auxiliary Nurse Maids (ANMs). The Association leaders Yakoobi, Uma Devi, Sumitra, Swaroopa Rani and others were present.
