Holding a protest rally, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday demanded the state government to celebrate September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day officially. The rally led by state president G. Kishan Reddy witnessed hundreds of party workers and leaders take part in it.


The rally that began from the martyrs pylon at Adalat centre were blocked by the police at the entrance to the collectorate. With the leaders trying to get pass the police, commotion was caused in the area and the leaders settled on the road raising slogans against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The dharna led to the traffic being blocked on the Warangal- Hyderabad highway.


Eventually, the party leaders were arrested and taken into custody at the Subedari police station thus, bringing things under control, however, they were released later.


BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy said that they will keep fighting until September 17 is declared as the official Telangana Liberation Day. The BJP state president slammed Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao by saying that KCR has no value for the hundreds of people who lost their lives fighting against the Nizams for freedom and cares only for votes.
