Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy called on AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the party’s preparations for byelections for Warangal Lok Sabha seat.

According to sources, Uttam Kumar Reddy submitted the list of probable candidates for the Warangal bypolls. He reportedly suggested that former MP G Vivek should be fielded as party’s candidate.

However, Vivek is not keen on contesting the byelections. He advised that the Congress High Command persuade Vivek to enter the fray.

Later, Uttam Kumar Reddy met AICC general secretary and in-charge of Telangana Congress affairs Digvijay Singh. According to sources, Digvijay Singh will visit Hyderabad on a day-long tour on Thursday.

At 12 noon, he will conduct a meeting with the leaders of Warangal district. At 3 pm, he will interact with the city leaders to review preparations for the forthcoming GHMC elections.
