Court orders TS, AP to set up fruit ripening chambers

A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday directed the governments of the twin states of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh to ensure that "fruit ripening chambers" are set up in market yards.

The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt was dealing with a newspaper article complaining that carbide was being used to ripen fruits artificially. The bench wanted both the governments to evolve a permanent mechanism and inform the same to the public and adjourned the matter by three weeks.
