Kothagudem (Khammam): The police let off Manuvada Vijay, an M.Tech student of Osmania University, at Kothagudem pm Thursday.

Vijay was taken into custody for raising slogans against the government in a public meeting at Hanamkonda addressed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on November 17, at Cherla mandal headquarters on Wednesday, suspecting that he had links with the outlawed CPI-Maoists, according to sources.

Vijay is a native of temple town Vemulawada in Karimnagar district and his father Lakshminarayana is an employee with Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple.

Revolutionary poet Varavara Rao and several other rights activists accused the rulers of being vindictive against those people who protest against the government’s policies.
