Since the elections bells for GHMC are about to ring we are going to see no action or no change until the new Mayor assumes office.
This is how the citizens in GHMC area are subjected to hardships due to lack of basic civic facilities like good roads, drainage, garbage collection, sweeping and upkeep of city. No one is accountable for any thing.
This is the unique nature of GHMC but the effects of being unaccountable, subjecting school going children to dust, bad roads and due to that accidents, foul smell from over flowing drainage, diseases from garbage accumulation, etc are not going to leave all those responsible for this.
The Exit of Mr. Somesh Kumar proved that an IAS can do any thing and get away with it. The only punishment that he / she can get is getting posting that does not provide avenues to earn extra money and public image.
The person responsible for the current state of affairs in GHMC is Mr. Somesh Kumar. His decisions, no decisions and his leadership did not add any value to the life of the common man in GHMC. How can we allow this kind of system that does not fix accountability to continue? Therefore as a citizen i urge the new head of GHMC Dr. Reddy to ensure the following:
1. Daily update of status of complaints received and acted upon or to be acted upon.
2. Division wise works status
3. Work wise status with details of contractor and the GHMC Official accountable for this
4. Updating the report on works being undertaken and their timelines
5. Action taken on the staff who were found not doing their duty or involved in corrupt practices
This is the only way GHMC can infuse seriousness among its staff for the work they do and earn their livelihood. Dr. REddy must bring in more accountability among the rank and file so that this accountability can not be diluted after elections.
